As the coolant leaves the condenser and the dehumidifier, it is injected under pressure into the AC evaporator, where it is soon expanded. As the coolant loses its pressure, it dissipates at low temperatures. This is how the air surrounding the AC evaporator is cooled and can then be injected into the passenger compartment if need be.
The evaporator is crucial for the efficiency of the car’s AC system for three reasons. Firstly, it causes the final cooling of the air inside the car. This is how the driver and the passengers know that the AC system is working. Secondly, problems with the patency of the air conditioning evaporator may indicate an issue with the flow of the coolant in the system. Thirdly, about 20 percent of the oil from the entire system is accumulated in the evaporator. Its tightness is therefore of great importance from the point of view of the ability to properly lubricate the AC compressor.
