Expansion valves and choke nozzles are installed at the junction of the dehumidifier and the evaporator. They are the last components in the system where the coolant is transported at a high pressure. After passing it, the cooling circuit enters the low-pressure phase. In addition to being a pressure barrier, the valve or the nozzle plays another key role.
Expansion valves and choke nozzles in the car AC system allow the coolant to reach a pre-set temperature in the evaporator. The coolant flow is regulated by the expansion valve depending on the temperature of the coolant at the evaporator outlet and based on the parameters indicated by the servo unit. Thus, the automatic AC is capable of cooling the air blown into the cabin to a very precisely specified level.
Replacement of the expansion valve or choke nozzle is necessary whenever the AC compressor seizes up.
